These Skin Sculptures are called Wombs. Womb refers to a dark, sheltered space where life emerges or can emerge, comparable to a cocoon.

When the artist Zora Volantes performs inside a Womb, it becomes an Inhabited Womb. If the sculpture is not occupied by a living being inside, it can be placed over a metal frame and illuminated - creating a sculpture called a Luminous Womb.
